Research and Planning - An advert i saw in cinema

 
Recently I went to see the new superman film 'Man Of Steel' and one of the trailers I saw before the film was for monsters university, now although it doesn't link with my genre of film, I believe this trailer and production is very good for many reasons.

Firstly it has a lot of things a good trailer needs it tells you that its from Disney Pixar, it shows the obvious links between this film and its predecessor Monsters Inc, as anyone who has seen Monsters Inc would recognise a lot of the characters eg mike and sully.

Also at the very end of the trailer it informs you it is in 3D showing us obvious technological convergence and it gives us a website Disney.com/MontersU which is both technological and cross media convergence which we know to be a good sales tactic.

But what I find most interesting about this trailer is the release date 21st of June 2013 now although you expect this on any trailer the release date is 12 years after the first film released in 2001 which for the Monsters Inc generation everyone who was young in the first release, and interested most likely between ages of 4-6 will now be of university age so not only appealing to youngest generation who would drag parents to it. It hits that generation who now will be going to university so will probably be more interested than just a monters inc 2 and I believe this was planned very well by the production company.
