Evaluation: Question 2 how effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary task.

http://kristian12.edu.glogster.com/edit/new-glog/ - my glogster

Here is the script for this question:
Bethany: talk about the feature of main character being used in all three
Kristian: colour scheme used
Bethany: cards used in all three tasks
Kristian: tag line included in both trailer and poster
Bethany: production and distribution company's logos in both poster and trailer not in magazine
Kristian: made focus on the killer
Bethany: colours
Kristian: Used actors names throughout
Bethany: props used throughout

This is the script we used when talking in our video.

Both the magazine and poster are good with the colour scheme I think they tie in well together with the film trailer, and there's an obvious link between them.

I also like how professional the poster and magazine look with the title being bold and how the mast head really stands out on the black background.

Also the images are very applicable to the genre of horror/ Thriller so yeah I think its really effective.

There's just a couple of things I think the pitch of the voice over maybe a little to high and the fight scene could have done with being slightly brighter but I don’t think it detracts from the work at all I think its just as effective

These are the comments I got from an interview on how my three tasks link together you will find the video below.

The main comments being on my:
  • consistency.
  • how my three tasks go together.
  • how the colour scheme works well.

I discuss how the main product of the trailer and the ancillary tasks of the poster magazine work in communion and how it is possible to tell they are advertising the same product - the film 'Ace is high'.

Good vs Bad: There is a clear contrast shown in my trailer of which character is the protagonist and who is the antagonist however in my magazine and poster the images are just of the antagonist so I tried to portray him as sinister and organized through the use of props such as the cut throat razor.

Representation: The representation of the killer is maintained as sinister and creepy throughout the poster and magazine through the use of the props and low key lighting this helped to distinguish the villain from other characters in the narrative. The character of the detective is portrayed as being carless and venerable through the film trailer as there image isn't in the poster or magazine cover, as they starred a lot more in the trailer I didn't want an audience to think its just about a detectives life I wanted it to go alittle more against convention.

Colour and Lighting: I have used the three colour rule and kept the magazine and poster the same colours of red, white and black to promote the same product of the film 'Ace is high' and portray the genre of a thriller.

Location: I have used many locations in the making of my trailer as not to make it look confined and like it is made by college students, but for my poster and film magazine I decided to cut images out as to not let a background distract us from the images and give the images more of a background making the killer look more sinister
