Research and Planning- Camera Techniques

Jump Cut -
Has no continuity, jump cut is an abrupt transition, typically used in a sequential clip that makes the subject appear to jump from one spot to another without continuity, for example french new wave film breathless - but could work really well to show someone getting shot in a genre like crime/gangster movie.

Match Cuts -
These can be used in any scene, match cuts are used to show a relapse of time by shooting one seen switching to a matching action then switching to the next scene, for example walking down stairs shot of feet the at the bottom of the stairs seen in the film space odyssey.

 Cut Away -
Once again used to show a relapse of time but cut away go to a related image this time then back to the original scene, for example top of the stairs cut to a person looking at the first person then at the bottom of the stairs this can once again shorten a scene you see this in Wall-E

In this clip you can see all information and clips mentioned.
